Bottle return case
turns more serious
BRIDPORT — An alleged fraud involving returned bottles led to more serious charges against a Vermont man, police said.
Vermont State Police said they were initially investigating a fraudulent bottle return at Pratt’s Store on Route 22A in Bridport.
Jeffery Preseau, 36, of Addison had received cash from the store for more bottles than he actually returned, police said.
That investigation led to the discovery that Presau was driving with a suspended license and also possessed a gun — a crime because he was a convicted federal felon, police said.
Presau was cited into Middlebury criminal court Aug. 25 to face charges of fraud, driving with a suspended license, second offense, and illegal possession of a firearm.
