I, like many downtown employees, am very disappointed in the city in that it takes the Downtown Partnership holding an event in “the Pit” parking area to get any response to the very poor condition of the parking lot. The pot holes in the Pit were so deep cars were bottoming out just driving through the parking lot. I myself pay $3 per day to park in this lot, and many others pay a monthly or yearly fee to park. Most days there are no parking spots left in the lot, therefore it would seem the city of Rutland is making enough money from the lot to maintain both the parking area and the steps to the street.
