WEST PAWLET — Elizabeth Kinne, age 105, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Indian River Farm, the home in which she was born.
Elizabeth was born Nov. 5, 1908 in West Pawlet, Vt., the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Roberts) Flower.
Elizabeth graduated from Troy Conference Academy and Syracuse University. She taught in Rupert at a one-room schoolhouse and also at the Voorheesville High School.
She was a 94-year member of the Rupert United Methodist Church. Elizabeth was an active volunteer in ALOHA Club, League of Women Voters, she was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Women’s Ministry and the American Cancer Society.
She had been living with her daughter in San Antonio, but every summer returned to her family homestead. Elizabeth was a real blessing to the lives of everyone who met her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Kinne, and a brother, Bardwell Flower. Survivors are her children, Tad Kinne and his wife Patty, and Mary Kinne Sustaita. She was blessed with her grandchildren, Elizabeth Monney and her husband Chuck, Michelle Sustaita and Abraham Martinez, Jonathon Kinne and Gregory Kinne as well as five great-grandchildren, Ellie, Riley, Caleb, Taylor and Katelyn.
A celebration of her life will be held at Rupert United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rupert United Methodist Church.
