    Broadband tower

    approved for town

VERNON — A 90-foot tower has been approved in Vernon to expand a wireless-broadband network.

The Brattleboro Reformer reported that VTel received permission for the project this week from the Vermont Public Service Board.

The tower was not met with significant opposition when it was discussed at a public meeting last fall.

VTel is building facilities statewide that will send out a wireless, high-speed Internet signal as an alternative to traditional, cable-based Internet providers.

Online state records show that the board has approved new VTel equipment at 17 Vermont sites since January.
