    group buys land

PUTNEY — A 144-acre parcel of land that connects two conserved areas near Putney Mountain will be preserved for future generations.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports the Putney Mountain Association raised about $424,000 to buy the land, which has been in the Hannum and O’Connor families since the 1920s.

The Vermont Land Trust holds the easement on the property and helped the association with the fundraising.

The association plans to add a kiosk and develop trails across the area.
