    Police plan sobriety checkpoints

    Throughout this month and over the Labor Day weekend Vermont State Police in Shaftsbury will join other law enforcement agencies to conduct sobriety checkpoints and “saturation patrols” in Bennington County.

    The checkpoints and increased patrols are part of the Vermont Governor’s Highway Safety Program’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

    The goal of the initiative, police said, is to reduce serious injury accidents and fatal crashes caused by impaired drivers.
