Scientists seek ways to finally take a real measure of pain

Researchers are hunting the first objective way to measure pain, what the National Institutes of Health calls a pain meter. Among the devices in early-stage testing: One that peeks into the eyes to link pupil reactions to pain. (Jan. 10)
