MONTPELIER — On Feb. 2, the Vermont Debate and Forensics League's State Championship in Speech was held at the State House. Winners from area schools, Rutland High School, Burr and Burton, Woodstock Union High School, include:

Rutland High School — 1st place poetry, Anny Lin; 1st place prose, Austin Robertson; 1st place drama, Matt Rock; 3rd place extemporaneous, John Cotter; 3rd place impromptu, Casey Coughlin; Impromptu state finalist, Jacob Knipes; 3rd place team, Rutland HS.
