Peter Welch, the next congressman from Vermont, earlier today announced that Bob Rogan -- a longtime fixture in the state's political scene -- would be his chief of staff. Rogan, 47, will leave his job as vice president of public affairs at Green Mountain Power Corp. by the end of the year. Before that, he served as a deputy campaign manager for Howard Dean's presidential run, and, before that, was vice president of public affairs with CVPS. In a release, Welch called Rogan a trusted adviser. "He brings the unique skills of policy, political and management experience, and a strong understanding of Vermont and Washington," said Welch. Welch, incidentally, will be in Washington next week for freshman orientation.
