George P. Hinckley BELMONT — George Philip Hinckley, 73, of Belmont, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at his home. He was born in Rutland April 3, 1945, the son of Philip and Grace (Taylor) Hinckley. George was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and in 1991, served in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm. He was a member of the American Legion Post #31, the VFW, National Guard and the Mendon Fish & Game Club. He was employed by General Electric Co. for many years and was a member of the Rutland County Sheriff’s Dept. Surviving are his wife, Betsy (Flanders) Hinckley, of Belmont; a son, Philip Hinckley, of Burlington; and a daughter, Kristy Hinckley, of Pearl River, LA. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at American Legion Post #31 in Rutland. Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
