So, every six months or so, I head down in the basement where I store my 500 or so albums on vinyl. I have what I call “analog days,” and was looking for a few albums to spin. I flipped past Poco, Iron Butterfly, Ten Years After, The Airplane, Creedence, etc.
Then I came to the soundtrack of "Hair," pulled it out and began to listen. I had, to an extent, forgotten all the great songs from that wonderful Broadway show. But what struck me the most was that so many of the songs are apropos today. They were already singing about what we were already doing to our air, along with much about social issues and inequality.
But it was a line in the tune, "Walking In Space," that got my attention: “Our eyes are open, our eyes are open.” This is what the supporters of our current president need to do. Open your eyes and see the disgrace and embarrassment he has brought to our nation.
A week or so ago, the news showed a clip from one of his rallies where he used the term, "bulls**t." Everyone standing behind him laughed with glee; I cringed. You should have cringed, too.
So, if you still have "Hair" collecting dust, pull it out and if you still have a turntable, give it a whirl. You will see what I mean.
