Greta Thunberg has achieved notoriety by observing the obvious and then publicly shaming those in power who choose to ignore her. The "obvious" in this case is the rapidly unfolding climate catastrophe caused by the accelerated release of greenhouse gases into Earth's atmosphere by humans since the dawn of the industrial age.
Ms. Thunberg's laser focus on this problem is compelling. She knows that the combined effects of rising global temperatures, mass extinction, drought, habitat destruction, pollution and over population are steadily making the prospects for her generation bleak.
Greta's commitment to reversing this trend should be universally adopted by leaders and citizens around the world. There is no greater threat to life as we know it.
I urge citizens to get involved at any level. Sept. 20 to 28 is Global Climate Strike Week. Find an event and get involved. You owe it to your grandchildren.
