This is in regard to the article titled "Fat bikers: Wide tires for a winter ride," by Sarah Galbraith, published Jan. 19. I am deeply disappointed that an article about winter fat biking trails and where to buy or rent fat bikes makes absolutely no mention of such here in Rutland. There is no mention of the world-class groomed trails in Pine Hill Park and the local merchants who sell and rent fat bikes right here in the city.

This is important because trail recreation requires the collaboration and effort of many people and groups. Elsewhere in Vermont, trail recreation has been terminated in places because of the simple fact that we all often fail to acknowledge the many generous folks that make these things possible.

I hope that you reconsider this article and publish another that actually reflects the people of Rutland. An extensive network of winter fat bike trails exists less than a mile from the Herald office. Acknowledging such would do a service to the volunteers, donors, city employees, generous landowners, merchants and so many more that have made this possible.
