April was a busy month for ARC Rutland Area.

We held our first-ever dinner theater fundraising event on April 12, and it was a hilariously fun success. Rutland High School Encore Theater has earned our heartfelt gratitude for volunteering their time and talent to help the developmentally disabled in their community. Sophia Tomola, Elisha Gilman, Emma Gonzales, Allie Reed, Nicole Boyer, Halo Burrer, Justin Best, Siobhan Gallagher, Hunter Green, Izzy Stober, Noah Hubble, Eliot Engles and their teacher, Cathy Archer, deserve praise for their dedication to their community; there's nothing that inspires hope more than seeing young people striving to make the world a better place. Bravo. We would also like to thank the Franklin Conference Center for hosting our event, Sally Short, John Wing, Catherine Bell, Stephanie Lovelette and Susan Jackson for sponsoring tickets, and for all the people who attended, thank you for supporting your community.

Also a first for us, we held an Easter egg hunt during our annual End of Winter Dance. Over 300 eggs were hidden, and an Easter basket stuffed with goodies was won by ARC member Dale Dimick. It was a great event enjoyed by everyone. Our thanks to the Elks, whose steadfast support allows these events to occur, Bob and LoriAnna Mason for their DJ talents and for bringing soda, Sabra Notte, Sheila Saltis and Sally Short for donating baskets, and all of our wonderful volunteers and members who brought a snack to share — here's to the end of winter.

Stay tuned for ARC's next event in June. Make sure to follow us on Facebook and check out our website at arcrutlandarea.org. As always, call our office at 775-1370 with any questions.
