A Proctor man is facing a charge of drunken driving after he was stopped by state police late Friday night on Route 7. Police did not disclose the motor vehicle violation that prompted them to pull over the vehicle driven by Eric Mallette, 33, but they said Mallette showed signs of alcohol impairment during their roadside interaction. Mallette was taken into custody, processed at the state police barracks in Rutland and later released on a citation. He is expected to be charged with driving under the influence when he is arraigned in Rutland criminal court on Sept. 24.
