BRATTLEBORO -- The Vermont Public Utility Commission said Wednesday that today’s expected snowstorm will postpone its hearing on the proposed sale of the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant.

The public hearing was slated to begin at 7 p.m. at Brattleboro Union High School, with a public informational session starting at 6 p.m.

No date was set for rescheduling the hearing, although two possible dates were mentioned, Jan. 16 or 18.

Entergy Nuclear wants to sell the closed nuclear power plant in Vernon to a New York industrial demolition company, NorthStar Holding Co.

The two members of the PUC who are hearing the Yankee case, Sarah Hofmann and Margaret Cheney, were expected to use statements from the public and interested parties in the upcoming technical hearings on the proposed sale.

Those hearings will be held in Montpelier this month.
