Submit a Commentary

The Rutland Herald welcomes letters to the editor. Commentaries for consideration can only be submitted by email at commentary@rutlandherald.com. Submissions should be no more than 800 words. Submissions must be either attached as a Word document or inserted into the body of an email. (No PDFs.) We reserve the right to edit submissions for clarity and accuracy. Commentaries that are unsigned, libelous, in poor taste, or incomprehensible will not be published. We will not accept commentaries that are a personal attack on an individual, business or organization. Submissions must include the writer’s name, hometown and phone number, which is used for verification purposes only. If you have an affiliation to the issue being discussed, you are obligated to disclose that connection or any potential conflict of interest. Anyone submitting on behalf of an individual will require verification by the author. A commentary writer is allowed to have two submissions published monthly. With the exception of the editorial, commentaries and letters expressed in the print edition – and online – do not necessarily reflect viewpoints of The Rutland Herald, but are offered in the spirit and interest of public debate and discussion.
