Advertising

We offer both retail advertising (for businesses, non profits, and events) and classified advertising (for individuals selling items, job postings and garage sales). Our offices are closed to the public and all walk-in traffic has been suspended. Our Classified Advertising staff here to assist you Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To reach a classified representative please call 802-747-6126.

Newsroom

Our newsroom is staffed seven days a week, with weekend coverage handled by a rotating editor for Saturday and Sunday. That means that the best way to reach us is through the general newsroom email inbox at pressreleases@rutlandherald.com, or directly to a reporter or editor on the beat in question. 

In general, we make decisions on assignments for our reporters based on the assigning editor's judgement. The editor weighs factors including the local angle of a potential story, the timing, the general interest, and the availability of staff. We publish community news on the Community Page in print, and online, which includes honor rolls, graduation lists, fishing derby winners and other news of interest to our local community. Our original reporting focuses on government, law enforcement, and life in the communities we serve. 

Our sports department makes a priority of covering high school sports, and local sports. Our overall goal is to be inclusive of young athletes, recognize the coaches, and provide depth and context in game reporting. We think recording wins and losses is important, but not as important as introducing a new generation to our community and helping them learn through athletics how to become good citizens.
